Wow, the TED people always find the cool stuff! And open source will get you a round of applause anywhere! But this is a all a bit freaky, too... I just plain don't get it. However, if I could use it to come up with more blankets on a cold rainy early July Volyn night... well, that'd be fantastic...

I'd never heard about TED until now

My 5th year AI students will learn something from that also. I've heard that in 5 years we'd all be able to see that part where we look at someone and know their name and what they do for a living. As if we were online all the time.

I ran across TED stuff in Odessa a couple years ago and followed it for awhile... some guy who commented on my first ever blog was a TED fan- went to the talks and stuff and was pretty interesting, actually. blah blah blah
Colin uses some TED stuff in his teaching, I believe...
ps- did you see the 3six5 project? That sounds neat- you should do it!

ps- 3six5 has nothing to do with TED... it's just my random thought processes
