Rose Petal Jam

We were out visiting some of our favorite people yesterday and we were served Rose Petal Jam; that's jam made from rose petals.  The flavor is like flowers!
Ira gave us about 500 grams of petals off her rose bush, we got the recipe and made some when we came home:
First we rinsed them in cold water and drained them.  You can see the weight in grams here, including the weight of the colander.
Next we added 1.5 cups of sugar and mashed the petals into the sugar with a wooden spoon.
It got quite watery, then we boiled it on the stove...
Until the petals became translucent -
after which we sealed the beautiful jam into cute little jars.

I feel somewhat hesitant about this recipe. We're advised to stop and smell the roses, but I've never heard of eating them!

I had rose petal jam somewhere over in Poland... it was good but not my choice of flavor. Yours looks like it turned out nice.
